Pannonia Ethanol, a company engaged in projects related to renewable energy is building a bioethanol production facility at Dunaföldvár. The facility will produce up to 240 million litres of bioethanol fuel, and 175,000 tons of Dried Distillers Grains and Solubles (DDGS) a high protein animal feed and utilize roughly 575,000 tons of corn annually. With this amount of corn usage, Pannonia Ethanol will help to increase rural incomes through giving the local farmers another market for their product. The investor chose Dunaföldvár as a venue of their investment from eight possible locations. The production is scheduled to start at the end of 2011. The plan will greatly contribute to rural development and create hundreds of jobs, and some of the cleanest and most sustainable ethanol in Europe.

The task for LWp Kommunikáció was to organize the groundbreaking event and provide full-scale communications. The agency organized the event in cooperation with its regular partner, Event&More. The target groups of the communications were the local communities and energy industry players.

On the prospective plant location we installed an air-conditioned tent for 400 people. The main objective of the ceremony was to solve the most tasks together with the members of local community. Local businesses provided cleaning, catering and security services. Music was provided by a local band before and after the ceremony, and the local folkdance ensemble entertained the guests. The USAmbassador, Ms. Eleni Kounalakis, the State Secretary for rural development and the Mayor of Dunaföldvár presented speeches on the event. After the groundbreaking we held a reception for the guests at Dunaföldvár Castle.

The ceremony was accompanied by significant media interest. Due to the media relations, more than 70 articles and interviews with Pannonia Ethanol management were published, creating complete media coverage for the event.
